Intleacht branded guide: How Do I Measure Whether AI Is Recommending My Business?

Quick Answer: Measure AI visibility with a fixed set of service-and-location prompts, repeated on a consistent schedule. Record company mentions, recommendations, cited URLs, competitors, and factual errors separately. Combine that evidence with referral traffic and qualified leads. Intleacht tracks prompts weekly and reports monthly; daily variation in answers does not make one response a reliable result.

Build a prompt set that reflects buying intent

Include the services, locations, and situations customers actually ask about: emergency repair, planned replacement, specialist work, and comparisons. Keep the sample stable so changes can be compared. Add new questions deliberately and mark when the sample changes. Do not quietly replace poorly performing prompts with easier ones to improve the reported score.

Define the metrics before calculating them

Mention rate is the share of tested answers that name your company. Recommendation rate is the share that present it as a provider to consider. Citation rate is the share that cite your website or another specified source, according to your stated definition. Track factual accuracy separately. A URL citation may concern advice rather than a recommendation to hire you.

Use a clearly defined share-of-voice calculation

One useful definition is your company’s mentions divided by all tracked company mentions in the sample. Another is the share of prompts where you appear. They measure different things and should not share one unlabeled number. State the denominator, platforms, prompt count, date range, and handling of repeated names. Compare competitors using the same method.

What belongs in the tracking record?

Save the exact prompt, platform and mode, date, response, cited URLs, companies named, and relevant session conditions. Note factual errors such as an old phone number or incorrect hours. Repeat observations to account for variation. A manual spreadsheet can establish a baseline; a tool adds scale and consistency but its methods still need to be explained.

Can Google Analytics measure all of this?

Analytics can record some visits from identifiable AI referral sources, but it cannot show every answer that names your company or every person who calls without clicking. Search Console and Bing reporting serve different platforms and should be interpreted within their coverage. Keep prompt observations, traffic, and business outcomes in separate columns rather than pretending one report captures the entire journey.

Connect visibility to leads and closed work

Use consistent source fields in inquiry forms or your CRM, and ask customers how they found you when appropriate. Compare qualified leads, appointments, close rates, and gross profit over time. Calculate return using attributable results and the full cost of the work. Avoid counting every mention as a sale or presenting correlation as proof that AI caused an inquiry.

How should the report drive next month’s work?

Investigate repeated gaps in the same service or location, incorrect facts, and sources competitors earn. Correct the relevant pages or listings, then repeat the sample. Report delivered work alongside outcomes and limitations. Weekly checks and a monthly review provide a practical cadence; a one-off screenshot is a diagnostic observation, not a complete performance report.
