What is AI prompt tracking?

AI prompt tracking measures whether AI platforms name your business when customers ask them for a recommendation.

We track a set of specific buying questions every week across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini. For each one we record whether your business is named, where you appear in the answer, and how the AI describes you.

It is not a keyword ranking. A customer asking ChatGPT who they should hire never sees a results page — they see a short list of recommended businesses. Prompt tracking is the only way to know whether you are on that list.

The five metrics that decide whether AI sends you customers

Every prompt we track produces the same five readings, and every one is tracked over time so you see the line move rather than a single snapshot.

Visibility

The percentage of AI answers that mention your business at all. The headline number, and the one that moves first.

Share of voice

How much of the conversation you own versus the competitors you compete against for real jobs.

Position

How high you appear when you are named. Being mentioned first is not the same as being mentioned.

Sentiment

How positively the AI describes your business, scored 0 to 100. Being named badly is its own problem.

Coverage

Which of the four engines cite you and which still do not. Coverage gaps are usually the fastest wins.

We track your competitors on the same prompts

Starter tracks 10 competitors. Growth and Dominance track 25. When an answer engine names a competitor instead of you, you see exactly which question triggered it and which business got cited.

That is the difference between knowing your AI visibility is low and knowing precisely why. Every gap becomes a specific piece of content to write or a specific citation to go win — not a vague instruction to publish more.

What's included

Before tracking starts, we build your prompt set. We research the exact questions your customers ask AI before they hire — by service, by location, by buying stage. These are not generic keywords. They are the real queries that decide who gets recommended in your market.

01

We build your prompt set

We research the questions your customers ask at each stage of hiring — problem, research, and decision — across every service and location you cover. We prioritise the prompts most likely to send you a paying customer, not vanity terms. Starter tracks 50 prompts; Growth and Dominance track 100.

02

We track your brand

Every week we check whether the four engines name your business, where you appear in the answer, how much of the conversation you own, and how the AI describes you. You see your standing move over time rather than a one-off snapshot.

03

We track your competitors

We run your named competitors against the same prompts, so you see exactly when an answer engine cites a rival instead of you — which question triggered it and which business won the mention. Every gap becomes a target with a name on it.

04

We report it clearly

A monthly report breaking down visibility, share of voice, position, sentiment, and coverage by individual prompt and by engine. No black box. You see what changed, what is working, and what we are targeting next.

05

We turn the gaps into content

This is what makes the tracking pay off. When a competitor gets cited for a question you do not appear in, we write the content to close that gap — direct-answer pages and articles built to win that exact prompt. Tracking tells us where you are losing; content is how we make you win it.

06

You keep the data

The prompt set, the tracking history, and every report are yours. If you decide not to continue after your six-month term, you keep the full record of where you started, where you finished, and which prompts your market actually runs on.

Prompt tracking is included

It is not a separate line item. Prompt tracking is part of the standard six-month program alongside the website rebuild, AEO content, citations, and Google Business Profile management.

Packages run on a six-month term billed monthly: Starter at $1,500 per month, Growth at $3,000, or Dominance at $6,000, plus the one-time $5,000 website rebuild.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about prompt tracking

What is AI prompt tracking?

AI prompt tracking measures whether AI platforms name your business when customers ask them for a recommendation. We track 50 to 100 prompts per client every week across ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini, recording whether you are named, where you appear in the answer, and how the AI describes you. It is the only way to know whether AI is sending customers to you or to a competitor.

Which AI platforms do you track?

ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Google AI Overviews, and Gemini — the four platforms that drive the overwhelming majority of AI-based recommendations in home services. We do not track Perplexity, Claude, or Bing Copilot: their home services query volume is significantly lower, and the optimization patterns are close enough to the four we track that the extra work would not change what we build. As adoption shifts, the tracked-engine list will evolve with it.

How many prompts do you track?

Starter tracks 50 prompts against 10 competitors. Growth and Dominance track 100 prompts against 25 competitors. Each prompt is a specific question your customers actually ask AI before they hire, broken down by service, location, and buying stage — for example, who the best roofer in Flower Mound is, or how to file a storm damage claim. We research and build that prompt set for you.

How do you choose which prompts to track?

We research the questions your customers ask at each stage of hiring — problem, research, and decision — across every service and location you cover. We prioritise the prompts most likely to send you a paying customer, then track them weekly so you see movement on the queries that matter rather than on vanity terms.

What metrics do you report?

Five. Visibility, the percentage of AI answers that mention you. Share of voice, your portion of the conversation versus competitors. Position, how high you appear when named. Sentiment, how positively the AI describes you, scored 0 to 100. And coverage, which engines cite you and which do not. Every metric is tracked over time so you see the trend, not a single snapshot.

How is this different from keyword rankings?

Keyword rankings tell you where your website sits in Google's results. Prompt tracking tells you whether an answer engine actually names your business when a customer asks for a recommendation. A customer asking ChatGPT who they should hire never sees a rankings page — they see a short list of businesses, and this shows whether you are on it.

How often is my data updated?

Your prompts are tracked weekly across all four engines. You receive a monthly report summarising what changed, what is working, and what we are targeting next, alongside your scored 7-Pillar AI Visibility Diagnostic.

What do you do with the tracking data?

We act on it. When a competitor gets cited for a question you do not appear in, we write the content to close that gap — direct-answer pages and articles built to win that exact prompt. Tracking shows where you are losing; the content we produce is how you start winning those mentions.

Do you guarantee I'll appear in AI answers?

No one can guarantee specific AI placements. They depend on your starting position, your market's competitiveness, and how each platform's model behaves. What we guarantee is the work: the prompt set, weekly tracking, competitor monitoring, monthly reporting, and the content we produce to close the gaps we find.

Is prompt tracking included, or separate?

Included. Prompt tracking is part of the standard six-month program alongside the website rebuild, AEO content, citations, and Google Business Profile management. Packages are billed monthly at $1,500, $3,000, or $6,000 depending on tier, plus the one-time $5,000 website rebuild.
